How the AVI to MP4 Converter Works
AnyTool converts AVI to MP4 entirely in the browser with a self-hosted single-threaded ffmpeg.wasm engine (bundled, no CDN). AVI containers usually hold legacy DivX/Xvid video that is not MP4-compatible, so a stream copy is not possible; the tool re-encodes to H.264 video and AAC audio at a visually lossless quality preset, with yuv420p pixels and +faststart for universal playback. Encoding progress and before/after size are shown.
- Runs client-side — the video is never uploaded
- Visually lossless H.264/AAC re-encode tuned for AVI sources
- yuv420p + faststart for universal playback
- Self-hosted ffmpeg core (bundled) — no CDN
- No watermark, no sign-up, no size cap
