Convert JFIF images to standard JPG format

JFIF is the format JPEG images have used since the early 1990s. A .jfif file contains the same kind of image data as a .jpg, so the difference is mostly the extension.
Because it is the same JPEG data, renaming the file to .jpg works for most uploads. Converting instead re-saves a fresh standard .jpg and removes the camera data, which is useful when you are sharing the photo.
The image is decoded and saved again as a JPEG, so a little detail can change. At the default 92% quality the difference is hard to see; set 100% for the closest copy, or rename the file instead.
On some Windows PCs, a registry setting maps JPEG images to the .jfif extension (the Extension value under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\image/jpeg), so browsers save downloads as .jfif. Converting or renaming fixes the files you already have.
