How the MP4 to WebM Converter Works
AnyTool converts MP4 to WebM entirely in the browser with a self-hosted single-threaded ffmpeg.wasm engine (bundled, no CDN). Because MP4 (H.264/AAC) and WebM use different codecs, the conversion is a re-encode: the tool encodes VP8 video with Vorbis audio at a quality preset tuned for small, web-friendly output suitable for HTML5 video and the open web. Encoding progress and before/after size are shown.
- Runs client-side — the video is never uploaded
- Re-encodes to royalty-free WebM (VP8/Vorbis)
- Quality preset tuned for the open web / HTML5 video
- Self-hosted ffmpeg core (bundled) — no CDN
- No watermark, no sign-up, no size cap
